Second Round

Wymondham 8 (64) v Kirby Bedon A 0 (40) - 19/07/10

After being beaten against last years champions in the final this was a great performance from Wymondham who made home form count. First session saw S. Archer, S. Foster and S. Phillips beat C. Aggas, T. Goldsmith and S. Goldsmith 15-13. A strong start from Wymondham saw them sweep into a 7-2 lead and from then on kept things tight and increased their lead to 14-7 with just three ends remaining. A dip towards the end saw them drop six shots in two ends but this was still a strong performance against quality opposistion. On mat 1 the result was near enough confirmed as P. King, M. Linsdell and C. Mann cruised to a 25-5 win against L. Chilman, J. Aggas and P. Watson. The long jack enforced by Blazer made life difficult for Leonora who struggled with weight for most of the match. Peter had again a strong match and Mark likewise played his part. John and Phil made little impact for Kirby as Wymondham shot into a 17-0 lead before Kirby got their first point after nine ends. A swap saw John at skip after seven ends but this again made little impact as the result was pretty comfortable.
Second session on mat 1 saw S. Archer, S. Foster and S. Phillips beat A. Hunter, J. Aggas and P. Watson 11-10. The scoreline shows a tight game with Alistair coming in to replace Leonora, made the Kirby side stronger but Wymondham again made a good start leading 8-2 after seven ends. But again a dip towards the end saw the last four ends go in favour of Kirby but that was not enough to see them win as the home side knicked it. On mat 2 another tight game was being played but again Wymondham came out on top as P. King, M. Linsdell and C. Mann beat C. Aggas, T. Goldsmith and S. Goldsmith 13-12. Another match that was won by a single shot and again saw the home side make a strong start leading 6-2 after six ends. But the away side hit back and took the lead at 6-7. Wymondham hit back with a three that could of been five if Blazer had planted the wood on wing but narrowly missed much to the suprisement of the shot by Peter and Mark who should of saw the shot also, which Selwyn agreed. The four scored by Wymondham on the thirteenth end condemed the Kirby side of the defeat as just two singles were manged by them on ends fourteen and fifteen.
Although Kirby will be dissapointed with the result, they will be happy knowing this was not a league result that could of put Wymondham in a very strong posistion to finish 2nd, as it is Kirby will now feel they will be able to do better in two weeks time when they visit again.

First round

Wymondham 8 (94) v Hingham Yellow 0 (26) - 20/06/10

As the result suggests this was a very comforatble win for the div 1 side against the div 3 side as the gulf between the sides was shown. The first session on mat 1 saw S. Foster, B. Saunders and S. Phillips beat J. Baker, E. Frary and J. Frary 22-7. The away side made a bright start going into a 5-1 lead after three ends but the home side soon got into a rythem which saw them concede only two more shots for a strong win. On mat 2 P. Saunders, P. King and C. Mann beat M. Potter, E. Herbert and R. Naish 21-6. Another strong performance very similar to the other match.
Second session on mat 1 saw no changes as P. Saunders, P. King and C. Mann beat J. Baker, E. Frary and J. Frary 22-8. Almost a mirror of the first match on mat 1 as Jane and co went into another 5-1 lead but the home side again proved too strong and never looked back as they wrapped up the match with a good margin. Mat 2 was an exhibition match as S. Archer, S. Foster and D. Phillips ran riot as they put in a 29-5 victory against M. Potter, E. Herbert and R. Naish. The home side gave very little away and put the away side under a lot of pressure which they couldnt cope with much of the time as they conceded three's and four's throughout the match for a massive win. This was a good performance and will the give the team a boost going into a couple of crucial match's starting at Kirby A tomorrow night and Bob Carter at home next sunday.

Preliminary round

Watton Yellow 2 (48) v Wymondham 6 (56) - 09/05/10

A strong start for Wymondham condemed league two side Watton Yellow to their first defeat of the summer league season as the away side won both first half matches with big wins. On mat 1 S. Archer, S. Phillips and D. Phillips beat J. Todd, B. Davies and M. Dibble 17-8. After being 0-5 down after just two ends Wymondham fought back to lead after eight ends with a 8-7 lead and from there went on to score the last five ends with no reply. On mat 2 P. Saunders, M. Linsdell and C. Mann beat B. Dibble, J. Bebee and M. Hunter 24-9. Apart from a dropped four on end four this match was very comfortable as the scoreline suggests.
The second session on mat 1 saw Watton's only win come from B. Dibble, J. Dibble and M. Hunter as they beat S. Archer, B. Saunders and D. Phillips 4-19. On mat 2 P. Saunders, P. King and C. Mann beat E. Bebee (J. Todd), B. Davies and J. Hunter 21-12. After three ends June Todd had to retire from the mat not feeling well so Eddie Bebee came in to repalced her. The substitute though failed to rejuvenate the home side as they trailed 13 without reply after six ends. Pat had another strong afternoon at lead and most of the other players also had strong performances but with Kirby Bedon "B" away tomorrow night in the league most players will have to step up a gear as Wymondham look to take their first league win at Kirby Bedon in their history as they will hold a lot tougher test than today.
