Millenium 4's Report 2010

The only Norfolk representitives all from Wymondham were Brian Saunders, Debbie and Steve Phillips with Chris Mann who managed some giant killings and finished a very respectable joint 3rd place. The first of the six matches played saw them up against West Mids Steve Bailey and his family. Although this was much a practice for his two children the Wymondham four racked up a healthy thirteen shot difference in a comfortable 14-1 win. Second game was against one of the two Powerpuff teams skipped by K. Alders. Mann's rink got off to good start but then a couple of ends towards the finish saw them stubble to 10-5 defeat what would be their only one of the day against the eventual runner's up. Third match saw them play Trever Brown's rink, a strong start saw them 6-0 up with just two ends to go, a firing shot from Mann on the seventh saw them go six down and with the Jack ditched on the last end all seemed doomed untill Steve manged to draw two inches from the line and the wood manged to stay there for the remainder along with Mann's for an 8-6 win. After the break Oxford were the next opponents and another strong performance saw them win 5-3. The fifth match saw unbeaten Essex block Stoneyhills skipped by Tony Elham beaten by Mann's block who looked odds on to win with their impressive shot difference but came up against a resiliant Norfolk side who after being 3-0 down took the next four ends to win 6-3. Although it took a last wood by Blazer to draw in for shot while being three down for a depressed Essex side who obviously thought they had a real chance of winning it. The last game saw another unbeaten side and the second of the Powerpuff teams skipped this time by H. Bowden with Chris and Simon Willies and Tony Bailey at lead. A slow start was made going 6-1 down after three ends but then the Wymondham four stepped up a gear and had four very strong ends in which on end five scored a five to go 8-6 up with just two ends to go. A two on end six made the game safe as the last end saw just a dropped one with about five second woods. A good days bowling from the Wymondham team who can hold their heads high.
