Wymondham & Attleborough - 08/12/2011

Wymondham Short Mat Bowls Club continue their impressive form this season as they are through to the 1/4 finals of both the county cup and Norwich cup and still top the Breckland league going into December. In the county cup Wymondham faced South Norfolk league giants Hempnall which on paper was a tough draw but home advantage paid off with a 6-2 (66-31) win for Wymondham in which R. Steele, M. Barker and B. Saunders were top scorers with a bruising 21-2 win. In the Norwich cup Wymondham again came through a tricky tie away to First Bus with a 13-7 points win, with the last session conceded as they achieved the target of 13 points as only 24 are available. A great last wood by Mark Linsdell which scored three shots salvaged a draw which meant the match was then won overall. The Breckland league has seen four home games all won by maximum points against Hingham Yellow 10-0 (93-31), Carleton Rode 10-0 (96-39), Hingham Green 10-0 (112-22) and Forncett 10-0 (108-28). One away match was played in November where Wymondham won at Harling 9-1 (71-48). This leaves Wymondham top on 67 points out of a possible 70 while Connaught A are second on 52 with a game in hand.
